Altea 552 DT Tamar Description
Following the recent success of the Tamar after being awarded the ‘Best budget Caravan’ at Practical Caravan’s ‘Tourer of the Year awards’ for 2016 because of “its blend of versatility, space and spec, at an unbelievably low price”, the family-friendly layout is back for 2018.
Following on from the introduction of the panoramic roof light in 2017, Adria redesigned the interior fabrics and upholstery for 2018. Adria have opted with an attractive, darker shade of brown for 2018 and they have also included a blue and green twist into the fabric of the base cushions to create a textured and luxurious feeling. Finally, contrasting bolster cushions and curtains help to finalise the caravans warm, homely feeling.
The success and popularity of the Altea Tamar is partly down to the amount space available within the caravan, whilst maintaining 6 large sized sleeping berths.
At the front of the caravan, the front seating area uses two slide-out wooden frames that extend from the seat bases to form a solid foundation on which the backrest cushions are laid to create a flat and comfortable sleeping surface.
The centrally located side dinette provides the third and fourth sleeping berth. The wall-mounted table unclips to form the base for the lower single bed and a fold-away bunk bed can be unfolded to create another sleeping area - when not required, the bunk bed simply folds away against the wall.
At the rear of the caravan, opposite the washroom there is a set of two fixed bunk beds. Traditionally, the size of Adria’s fixed bunk beds have superseded those of their British competitors, so space isn't limited. A study clip on aluminium ladder can be attached to create easy access to the top bunk bed, whilst a folding wooden bunk bed guard can be used to ensure that children do not fall out of bed at night. Below the first bunk bed, there is a convenient storage box that can be accesses by lifting the sprung bed base upwards. A concertina door blind has also been fitted to provide the maximum amount of privacy for those sleeping in the bunk beds.
The bathroom in the Tamar is located in the rear corner, opposite the set of fixed bunk beds. The washroom features a separate, enclosed shower with folding door and a Thetford toilet with a fold-away sink located above. The fold-away wash basin forms a part of the vanity unit. The vanity unit includes a concealed medicine cabinet to store all of your toiletries.
The central located Kitchen houses a vertically mounted combined Spinflo oven and grill, a Thetford fridge with dedicated freezer and gas-burner hob. The stainless steel hob is integrated into the sink, which allows for easy cleaning and disposal of any spilt food. A chopping board is also supplied and neatly fits within the aperture of the sink to extend the preparation surfaces available.
If you are looking for storage in your new caravan, then look no further - the Tamar features 2 wide pull-out drawers with soft close hinges and a double cupboard overhead with an integrated mugs and plate stand. The overhead cupboard is also pre-wired to accept an optional extra microwave. LED lighting not only provides a warm ambient atmosphere but also provides plenty of light when preparing meals. To additional cupboards are located below the fridge and above the vertically mounted oven, which provides a great place to store pots and pans.
When you first enter the Adria Altea Tamar, the first thing you will notice is the vast amount of light the enters the front seating area though the panoramic roof light, which is dressed in an nice brown leatherette material to mirror the Adora range. The seating area has space for a minimum of five adults, with the additional on the wrap around cushion providing even more space.
At the front of the caravan, there is a mounted fold-away table that can be lifted to conveniently rest your drinks or books without having to use the larger free-standing table. The free-standing table can be used for eating or even playing board games and when not in use it can be easily folded away and stored in a dedicated cupboard. The table storage cupboard not only acts as a natural divider between the front seating area and side dinette, but also provides a sensible location to stand a TV and allows for an uninterrupted viewing experience.
Alongside the table storage cupboard there is also a 12V, 230V and aerial connection point. LED lighting completely illuminates the caravan with a warm, ambient light with LED’s being used as under-cabinet strip lights that run around the caravan. The Tamar also features two halogen reading lights.
